The Red Apple Watch Series 6 With GPS Is Only $250 For Labor Day – Forbes

Apple’s tech spawns many copycats. But nothing has inspired some Android manufacturers quite like the Apple Watch, the Cupertino-based company’s wildly popular smartwatch.

There’s good reason for it too: Apple’s trademark, unrivalled, execution is clear in the OS and design. One of the best Labor Day Weekend sales is on this 40mm Apple Watch in Red. This is the GPS model, and it only costs $250 after a massive discount by Best Buy.

It’s normally $400, and while there’s a Series 7 Apple Watch just around the corner, the Series 6 is still in line for copious updates and should be capable of many of the same things. That includes the improved sleep tracking tech that’s coming with the next generation of WatchOS, which will come around the same time as the launch of the latest model (which should happen within the month).

The last time we saw the Apple Watch hit a price this type of low was during Amazon Prime Day. If you didn’t catch one then and you’re not interested in owning the latest and greatest, Best Buy’s deal is a fantastic opportunity.

As a wearable, the square watch face of the Apple device is better suited to small screens because it effectively utilizes space. There’s a reason TVs aren’t round. This means information isn’t cut off when it’s not at the widest point of the display, which is the case for Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4. The OLED screen is also brighter than previous models, with good daytime visibility and better contrast between whites and blacks.

The big improvements in the new Series 6 model are mostly incremental. But Apple is betting big on health and fitness data, so it has added the option to measure user blood oxygen levels. In short, the watch will measure the oxygen saturation level of your blood. If readouts are below 95%-100%, then that may indicate an underlying respiratory issue. But it’s worth noting—and Apple is keen to point out—that this isn’t a medical device, so readings are for informational purposes only. If you need a definitive reading, you need to go to a doctor.

You can use some Apple Watch features without your phone if you opt for the cellular model. Siri, playing music and answering (or making) phone calls can be done independently of your phone. The data plan will cost you extra, but I often find the freedom of having an independent, fully functional smart device comes in handy in places like the gym or if you just forget your handset.

With improved charging (from flat to full in 90 minutes), Siri language translation and a 5ATM certification, which means the wearable can be used at a depth of 50m for 10 minutes, the Apple Watch 6 is a good all-round smartwatch that improves on the company’s previous devices.

Elsewhere, the Apple Watch 6 will constantly monitor heart rate and notify users if something isn’t right. There is also a new sleep monitoring feature, which comes via WatchOS 7. Then there’s the added benefit of being able to take it to an Apple Store if something goes wrong, which is usually a decent reason to pay the Apple premium. But with this discount, it is a no brainer.
