Meghan Markle and Harry were ‘shoved out’ says expert
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Instagram account, @sussexroyal, has seen around 700,000 users unfollow in the last year. Meghan and Harry’s royal Instagram has been inactive since March 30, 2020, shortly after it emerged the Duke and Duchess would be stepping down from duties.
Meghan and Harry have lost thousands of fans on social media
As of writing, @sussexroyal has more than 10.1 million followers.
The drop in followers puts Prince William and Kate Middleton firmly ahead in popularity, with @dukeandduchessofcambridge being followed by around 13 million people.
The Cambridge royals’ last upload was on Friday, August 20.
It comes after Angela Levin, royal expert, said of Harry and Meghan: “They tell people to be compassionate yet neither are compassionate towards their own families…
“People are clearly deciding they don’t agree with their behaviour and are switching off.”
The Sun reported that of the Sussexes’ 10.1 million Instagram followers, just 66 percent are real people.
Around three million are likely bots that “mass follow” big-name accounts, according to data from analysts Hypeauditor.
In January, Harry denied he and Meghan quit social media in an interview with Fast Company.
He said: “That was ‘news’ to us, bearing in mind we have no social media to quit, nor have we for the past 10 months.
“… We will revisit social media when it feels right for us—perhaps when we see more meaningful commitments to change or reform—but right now we’ve thrown much of our energy into learning about this space and how we can help.”

Buckingham Palace is hiring and a £25,000 job advert with specifications that include the ability to “protect a world-famous institution” has caused controversy with critics calling it “meagre” and claiming the Royal Family is “out of touch”.
The advert outlines that the individual would work in a team with a “shared and unique purpose, joining the professional business behind the monarchy”.
This is something which they claim makes working for The Royal Household “so different”, and a benefit compared to other positions.
The advert for a Personnel Security Adviser, which oversees vetting duties at the Palace, as well as at Windsor Castle, Sandringham and Balmoral, requires experience and a degree, and says that the successful candidate will “deliver vital work”.

Kate Middleton’s birthday will not feature a once customary royal tradition.

But the Duchess of Cambridge is not the only senior royal to miss out on the tolling.
They will not chime to coincide with the birthdays of Prince William, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward nor Camilla.
Queen Elizabeth II has eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren – but always “shows her love for the family” with special treats for the youngest royals.
The monarch, 95, who has been affectionately referred to as ‘Gan-gan’ by future king George, likes to keep a close eye on their upbringing.
Revealing stories include the Queen’s insistence at being one of Kate and William’s first visitors after the birth of their first daughter, Charlotte, now aged seven.
Her relationship with grandchildren Lady Louise, 17, and James Viscount, 13, is also very close.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry broke their silence on Afghanistan earlier this week when they said that the Taliban takeover and ensuing chaos had left them “speechless”.
However, the Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden said that the statement came across as “very bland, and very wishy-washy”.
He told MailPlus’ Palace Confidential that Meghan’s political ambitions and Harry’s relationship with the Bidens effectively “muzzled” the couple.
Mr Eden said: “Harry was very much involved in that conflict so to see what’s happened now must be very difficult.”
The Queen is facing a “far bigger crisis” than Meghan Markle and Prince Harry a royal commentator has claimed.
The Queen, 95, has faced a difficult year as the head of state in 2021 following the death of Prince Philip.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also made accusations against the Royal Family after detailing their time in time.

22:24 Queen plans legal action over Meghan and Harry’s ‘repeated attacks’ – ‘Enough is enough!’
The Queen’s legal team are said to be consulting libel experts following the series of explosive claims made from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex this year, the Sun has reported.
The royals are also bracing for the publication of Harry’s memoirs next year which he has written “not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become”.
The newspaper reported that a legal warning was now being considered for publishers Penguin Random House.
A source told The Sun that the Queen was growing “exasperated with repeated attacks”.
They said: “The feeling, coming right from the top, is that enough is enough.
“There is a limit to how much will be accepted and the Queen and Royal Family can only be pushed so far.
“They are getting lawyered up. Harry and Meghan will be made aware and know repeated attacks will not be tolerated.
“The royals’ legal team are speaking to firms with expertise in libel and privacy.
“If someone were named in the book and accused of something directly that could be a libel and also infringe their rights to a private family life.
“It would be ironic if Harry and Meghan were accused of breaching privacy given their pronouncements on the subject.
“The legal team could also contact publishers of the book to ask for advance warning of its contents and a right to reply.
“There are concerns that the American public are falling for what Harry and Meghan say.”

The Duke of Sussex made a brief appearance through a window as he juggled three balls in the garden on camera.
Broadcaster Danny Kelly said he was “disappointed” to see Harry like that and suggested he is no longer an “alpha male”.
Speaking to GB News, Mr Kelly said: “I don’t dislike him, I don’t like him but with Harry, I’m slightly disappointed because she (Meghan) definitely wears the trousers in the relationship.
“He’s not an alpha male, he used to be an alpha male, he no longer is… jumping out of helicopters with machine guns.
“Now he’s in the background waving through a window while Meghan does this two-minute video which was self-publicity by the way because the book she’s trying to sell was being used to prop up the camera.
“I don’t think that people are disliking of her for anything but I think they’ve gone totally woke.
“He flies back in a private plane! The guy has no concept of public awareness. If he wants us to commute less, please you’ve got to be aware of what we perceive and you are jetting back on a £200,000 private charter.
“People are just going to say, ‘what’s the point of me putting my recycling out every week?'”
18:46 Queen sparks fury over ‘unsatisfactory’ decision to keep Prince Andrew in military role
A senior military source told The Times: “The Queen has let it be known to the regiment that she wants the Duke of York to remain as colonel and the feeling is that nobody wants to do anything that could cause upset to the colonel-in-chief.
“It is a very difficult, unsatisfactory situation.
“His position is not tenable or viable.
“How can you have a colonel who can’t perform the role?
“For the brief time he was in post, he was a good colonel, but the feeling across the regiment is that it’s not appropriate to retain him.
“You can’t have a colonel who can’t do public duties.”
16:51 Richard Madeley blasted ‘woke’ police force for job ad ‘worthy of Harry and Meghan’
Mr Madeley criticised a West Midlands police force advert for the position of ‘Assistant Director of Fairness and Belonging’ as being “woke drivel”.
The job description stated the force was looking for a “forward thinking, creative individual” to support and “oversee improved inclusive culture throughout the workplace.”
The successful candidate needed an “authentic presence”, had to be “comfortable with senior leaders” and had to have “expertise, commitment and dedication to the inclusion agenda.”
Mr Madeley likened the advert to “the type of thing Harry and Meghan would have dreamt up.”
In his column for the Express.co.uk he wrote: “I couldn’t extract a scintilla of meaning from that ad – not one solitary sausage of sense.
Mr Madeley added: “The job is aimed at providing frontline coppers with the tools they need to police a hugely complex multi-ethnic community properly.
“Who could argue with that? So why didn’t the advert just say so? Why all the right-on California-speak?
“West Midlands Police job ads should now be written by their press office – and the person responsible for this one put on point duty immediately.”

“Might have to pull a Brando and send Princess Pinocchio along to receive it on my behalf…”
Piers has been a regular critic of Meghan, but his repeated attempts to humiliate the Duchess were met with condemnation in May.
The former Good Morning Britain host posted a meme on Instagram, suggesting Meghan could be drawn to newly single Bill Gates.
Piers shared an image of Meghan smiling to herself with text reading: “So Bill Gates just got divorced”. The text was also accompanied by money emojis.
However, Piers received criticism for the post from a number of social media users.
One said: “You’re obsessed with her. WEIRD!”

And a third commented: “Gosh, do you spend every waking hour thinking about her? #obsessed.”

He wrote: “Owing to family connections, I have always felt a particular fascination and affection for Greece.
“Apart from the allure of her landscapes, history and culture, both my father and grandfather were born there, which is why I was so touched to be invited earlier this year to celebrate the bicentenary of the country’s independence.
“Now, five months later, it has been heartbreaking to see the devastating fires affecting Greece, Turkey, and now Italy which has just recorded Europe’s highest ever temperature.”
