Chevrolet announced today it plans to reveal the C8 Corvette Z06 on October 26, 2021. The news comes just days after test mules for the Z06 were spotted prowling around the Nürburgring and at Le Mans prior to this year’s 24-hour race.
The company released a short teaser video alongside the announcement showing off a camouflaged Z06 test mule driving on European roads, its flat-plane V-8 howling.
The reveal date announcement comes just one week after our spy photographers caught the Z06 testing on the Nürburgring in Germany. The car is expected to use a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V-8 that can rev to 9000 rpm, capable of producing around 617 hp. It should be attached to a beefier version of the Tremec eight-speed dual-clutch found in the standard C8, and send exhaust gases through a new four-pipe center-exit system.
We also expect the Z06 to come packing more tire, brake, and aero, as is tradition with the track-ready variant. Things like magnetic ride control and carbon fiber wheel should also be available. Seeing as how Chevy benchmarked the car against vehicles like the Ferrari 458 Italia and a Porche 911 GT2 RS, we’re expecting a highly capable machine.
Pricing has yet to be revealed, but if we’re going by how Chevy priced the previous generation of Z06, this new one should start somewhere around the $85,000 range—a massive value for money, considering how much performance we’re expecting.
